1. BRIEFING

The interior design process starts with an initial consultation where we will discuss the project brief and agree the scope of works. Following this you will be sent a fee proposal for the agreed design work. I use the RIBA/BIID Domestic Professional Services Contract for Interior Design Services for all projects. Once engaged, a second site visit will be arranged where a comprehensive survey will be undertaken. We will have and in-depth discussion about your requirements and aspirations for the space, to ensure the designs not only fulfil your needs, but surprise and delight you too! At this stage it’s important to talk about the budget so that everyone is on the same page.

2. CONCEPT DESIGN

This is one of the most exciting stages of the project! I will create a stunning design for your home by bringing together and layering, colours, textures, materials, furniture, art and accessories. I will carefully consider the impact of each of the elements of the design, for a cohesive scheme that exudes quality. The Concept Design Presentation is when I get to share my vision for the potential of your home! Once you have had a chance to take it all in and provide some feedback, I can finalise the concepts and provide some initial costing information.

3. DETAIL DESIGN

The next stage in the interior design process is detail design. At this stage the scheme will be detailed in a full set of technical drawings and schedules. Wall and floor colours, fabrics and materials will be finalised. Any bespoke elements of the scheme will be fully designed and sent out to tender. This is a collaborative process with you, so that every detail has been thought of and personalised to your needs - yes, I really want to know exactly how many pairs of shoes you want to keep in your wardrobe! FF&E (furniture, fittings & equipment) costs will be finalised and orders placed. Co-ordination of the whole project team is required. If I am undertaking the project management for you, all the quotes from trades will be collated and once your onsite team has been selected, a schedule of works will be agreed by all parties. It’s a busy time!

4. ONSITE INSTALLATION

After all the planning, your dream home becomes a reality. After all the work that has gone into the interior design process it's important to ensure all design elements are installed as per the design specifications. As part of the project management, I will be on hand to inspect the works as they progress, undertake quality control and oversee snagging.

5. STYLING

Adding accessories, objects, pieces of art and sculpture, bring the design to life and personalise your home and show your personality. Layering different textures, adding colour accents and choosing just the right scent, creates a nuanced, sophisticated environment. These finishing touches of a lifestyle project can have the biggest impact and really elevate your space.
