Creating a Relaxing Bathroom Space
The essence of Alderley Edge bathroom design is about creating a space where you can feel totally relaxed in your own home. Homes throughout Alderley Edge often feature a statement bathroom particularly in the master suites, and why not?! This is a space just for you, to indulge yourself in and enjoy your bathing routine.
Top Tips
Whether your bathroom is a spacious master bath or a compact guest en-suite, these are some of my top tips to make it stylish and practical.
1. Choose the largest tile format that suits the budget parameters, particularly in small bathrooms. Smaller tiles mean more grout lines and this can make a space feel busy.
2.Position your shower controls at the entrance to the shower, not underneath the shower head, so that you can turn on the shower without getting wet.
3. Don't underestimate the amount of storage you need, add in as much as possible, without overwhelming the space. Or if possible use concealed storage. This will help declutter your bathroom and give it a clean aesthetic.
4. Choose a fragrance that helps you feel relaxed. Adding a diffuser allows your space to maintain the fragrance, subliminally cueing your brain to relax when you smell it.
5. Opt for a steam shower for an at home spa experience. There are now several compact steam shower units designed for residential use and they can elevate your experience making you feel indulged and relaxed. You can even add fragrances to the steam which as we have already established enhances relaxation.

6. Install a demisting heat pad behind your bathroom mirror to prevent the mirror from steaming up when you're in the shower.
7. Go for an electric or duel fuel towel radiator that can be programmed to come on before your shower or bath so you always have a warm towel to get out to.
8. Ideally ask your tiler to mitre the corners of your tiles, but if you're using tile trims get self coloured trims to match the tiles rather than a chrome or stainless steel. This will make the bathroom look more sophisticated and well designed.
9. Include a niche in the shower for your shower gels and shampoos etc, but make sure the base is on a very slight angle so the water drains out of it.
10. Include low level ambient lighting, in addition to the main lights. This will allow you to enjoy your time relaxing in the bath without being dazzled by over head lights.
